Abstract

Accurate assessment and judgment of the severity of the condition of critically ill patients is a necessary professional ability for emergency nurses. This paper systematically reviews the core contents, application characteristics, clinical practice status and limitations of the modified early warning score (MEWS), shock index (SI) and Glasgow coma scale (GCS), aiming to provide a scientific basis for emergency department nurses to reasonably select evaluation tools according to the characteristics of patients' conditions, realize the early identification of critically ill patients, optimize the timeliness of emergency nursing intervention, improve the success rate of rescue, and ensure the safety of patients.
